Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using myshift.uk. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. About the service
myshift.uk ("the Service") is a free web application that helps UK gig workers and agency workers track shifts, earnings, holiday pay accruals, and estimated tax liabilities. The Service is provided by myshift.uk ("we", "us", "our").
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use myshift.uk. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. You must use a valid Google account to sign in.
3. Your account
You sign in to myshift.uk using Google Authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account. You must not share your account or allow others to access the Service through your credentials.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are being used in violation of these terms.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use myshift.uk only for its intended purpose: tracking your own shifts, earnings, and related financial information. You must not:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' data
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent data with the intent to deceive others
- Use the Service to store data unrelated to shift tracking and earnings
5. Your data
You retain ownership of all data you enter into myshift.uk. By using the Service, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display your data solely to provide the Service to you.
You can export or delete your data at any time. Our handling of your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
6. Important disclaimers
Tax estimates are not financial advice. myshift.uk provides estimated calculations for income tax and National Insurance contributions based on the data you enter. These estimates are for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as financial, tax, or legal advice.
The tax calculations are based on simplified models and standard UK tax rates and thresholds. They do not account for all individual circumstances, including but not limited to:
- Other sources of income
- Tax reliefs, deductions, or allowances specific to your situation
- Changes to tax rates or thresholds during the tax year
- Student loan repayments
- Pension contributions
You are solely responsible for your own tax affairs. We strongly recommend consulting a qualified accountant or using HMRC's official tools for accurate tax calculations and filing. myshift.uk accepts no liability for any tax underpayment, overpayment, penalties, or fines that may result from relying on our estimates.
Holiday pay calculations are based on the standard 12.07% accrual rate for irregular-hours workers under UK employment law. Actual entitlements may vary depending on your contract terms, employer policies, and legal requirements. myshift.uk is a tracking tool — it does not guarantee the accuracy of holiday pay calculations or your entitlement to claim.
Earnings calculations reflect gross pay based on the data you enter, before any deductions. Actual pay received may differ due to tax withholding, National Insurance, pension contributions, or other deductions applied by your employer or agency.
7. Service availability
We aim to keep myshift.uk available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users in advance of any significant changes.
8. Intellectual property
The myshift.uk name, logo, design, and source code are the property of myshift.uk. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service without our written permission.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied
- We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service
- Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless myshift.uk and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app. Your continued use of myshift.uk after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
13. Termination
You may stop using myshift.uk at any time. You may request deletion of your account and data by contacting us. We may terminate or suspend your access at our discretion if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms.
14. Contact
